PDP, APC clash over Rivers killings

Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of killing two of its members.

Chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr.Felix Obuah, who spoke through his media aide, alleged that members of the rival party shot a former councillor, Hon Hope George, on Friday, and one other, Madre Onura.

The PDP said George was in company of the member representing   Ogu Bolo in the House of Representatives, Hon Bright Tamuno, in a vehicle, when the gunmen opened fire on their vehicle, adding that he died immediately while the lawmaker and one other   were responding to treatment in a hospital.

“Members of the APC opened fire on a vehicle which had the member representing Ogu/Bolo in the House of Representatives, Hon Bright Tamuno Gogo; Rivers State House of Assembly candidate, Hon Datorudimabo Adams; and the immediate past councilor of Okrika Local Government Council, Hon Hope George, as occupants. Hon Hope George died while others, including Hon Bright Gogo, who sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds are receiving treatment in hospital,”the party said.

The Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, Mr Chris Finebone, denied that his party was behind the alleged attacks. Fine-boss said the APC was a party of responsible people, stressing that it was the style of the PDP to raise the alarm when they unleash terror on people.

It would be recalled that about seven members of the APC were shot last Tuesday on their way to the presidential rally of the party
