Obasanjo visits injured son in Jos


Heavy security presence were noticed along Barki Ladi, Hei­pang, Mararaban Jamare and Old Airport Junction Road, Jos yesterday, as former President Oluse­gun Obasanjo visited his son, Lt. Col. Adeboye Obasanjo who was in­jured during a Boko Ha­ram ambush in Maidu­guri, Borno State. Col. Obasanjo, it was learnt, had been receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the Plateau State capital. The younger Obasanjo who led an army platoon was injured during a fierce battle between Boko Haram and the Nigerian security forces. The former president flew into Jos about 6.00 pm and was received at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang by the Dep­uty Governor of Plateau State Amba
ssador Ignatius Long­jan and Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba and other security chiefs including the Commander of the Special Task Force on Jos crisis, Major General David Eniete; Commissioner of Police as well as Director of the Depart­ment of State Security, (DSS). From the airport, the for­mer president and the state deputy governor and other security chiefs drove straight to Obasanjo’s guest house on Wase Close where his son was believed to be recuperating. Shalloma's Blog gathered that on arrival at the guest house, the president’s son rushed to welcome him and the duo em­braced each other. According to a source, the younger Obasanjo might be at the 3 Armoured Division Medical Centre, while another source close to the family said he might have already been treated and discharged and simply waiting in Jos, to re­join his colleagues in the battle against insurgents. As at the time of filling this report, the former president, Col Obasanjo, the deputy gov­ernor, security chiefs and the Gbong Gwom Jos, were still at Wase Close.
