World soccer governing body, FIFA has endorsed the decision of
members of the NFF electoral appeals committee that upheld the election
of Pinnick Amaju and
his board members.
FIFA in an email to NFF scribe Barrister Musa Amadu stated that it is standing by the verdict of the majority. It would be noted that chairman of the electoral appeals body, Okey Ajunwa, a lawyer, in his “one man” ruling had annulled the election of Amaju, that of the vice president Seyi Akinwumi and two other board members, even as he ordered for a bye-election in seven days.
The FIFA letter which was made available to Daily Sunsports read in part: “We note the majority decision of the electoral appeals committee to uphold in their entirety the results of the NFF elective congress held in Warri on 30 september 2014. We are therefore pleased to be able to start working with the new office-bearers headed by the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick. We will contact you in the coming days to organize an introductory meeting between Mr. Pinnick and the FIFA president in Zurich.” Ordinarily, with FIFA’s acceptance of the electoral appeals committee verdict, all issues surrounding the election have been settled. But, its not clear if the appellants will sheath their swords and allow peace to fully return to the Glass House. Some of the aggrieved members of the football family had before yesterday’s FIFA letter threatened to return to the conventional court, if Okey Ajunwa’s ruling is not obeyed and a bye-election conducted.
